Flannel is brushed on both sides, which is what makes it warm and also what makes it shed a little in the first washes. This is the set for unheated bedrooms and the two coldest months. The sprig print is small enough to read as a texture from across a room.
It shrinks more than the brushed cotton - about 3% - and we cut it to allow for that. Expect it to be a touch roomy on the first night.

Tested. Three of these went through 200 washes at 40 °C before it was listed. The shrinkage figure above is what we measured after five.
