Sateen is a cotton weave with more threads on the surface, which is where the sheen comes from. It feels cooler than poplin and drapes more, and unlike silk it goes in the washing machine. Revere collar, self-piping, and trousers cut a touch wider than the poplin set.
The sheen dulls slightly over the first ten washes, then holds. Dark shades can transfer dye onto pale sheets in the first two washes - wash separately at first.
